Schools on Internet Governance
Schools on Internet Governance (SIGs) have started in 2007 with the European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG) in Meissen / Germany, and have spread around the world.
Each of the schools has developed its curriculum based on its local needs as well as local availabilities. Some teach at a basic level to students who have no experience with Internet governance, while others work with young professionals all of whom have some experience in Internet governance. Some bring in international faculty; whilst others prefer to restrict to local experts.
There are different methods of funding as well as for selecting its participants. Though different in numerous ways, the SIGs all go under a similar name and have much to share with each other.
The Dynamic Coalition on Schools of Internet Governance (DC-SIG)
We are a Dynamic Coalition established under the intersessional work stream of the Internet Governance Forum IGF.
We want to create a space where SIGs can gather and work together on sharing techniques, curricula and educational innovations. Furthermore, the DC can help building a network for faculties and alumni’s and provide an overview of schools across the world for potential fellows and donors.

How we work
Members of the DC-SIG are mainly organisers of Schools on Internet Governance, but we welcome also SIG faculty, former fellows, donors or any individual who is interested in our work. To join our DC you can simply subscribe to the DC-SIG Mailing List.
We are meeting virtually several times of the year and gather in person at the annual IGF with everyone that is attending. Where and when we are meeting is communicated via our mailing list and we publish the results on the DC-SIG Wiki.
What we do
Over the years we have worked collaboratively on several documents that can help organisers of a School on Internet Governance to evolve. We provide a list of SIGs for those who have registered with us and are as such a resource for potential fellows that are searching for education programmes in their region or for donors willing to support.
We want to be the space where organisers of a SIG can share experiences and help each other to grow. We promote the investment in long‑term capacity building, support of underserved regions, and strengthen the global Internet governance ecosystem.
We are committed to multi-stakeholder governance of the Internet and uphold the values of a free, universally accessible Internet that is of benefit to all.
